This is my teenage daughter's effort to help in our community "Farming for Friends" spring/summer 2010.

Many food banks cannot accept fresh produce as part of their regular delivery because they do not have the facilities to store it. The only way they can receive homegrown veggies is if it is donated right before their normal operating hours.

Inspired by others my daughter ("SaveTheWorld Jones") decided to build a garden specifically to donate the produce. Here are a few pictures of her efforts. (I am sooo proud of her!)

The area just as we began to work it. You can see the unused water feature and surrounding growth in the middle.

She moved 20 cinderblocks from the backyard to the front via wheelbarrow. She built a few muscles this day!

Coming together nicely. Planters for bee attracters (with Ups-a-Daisy inserts, of course)

old wooden crates lined with newspaper to hold in the soil

tomatoes planted on opposite ends

cukes, peppers, eggplant
